How do I manage DNS records for my domain?

If your domain uses our nameservers, you manage its DNS records in cPanel.

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Go to Domains > Zone Editor.
  3. Click Manage next to your domain.
  4. Use Add Record to create a record, or the Edit and Delete buttons to change existing ones.

Record

What it does

Example

A

Points a name to an IPv4 address

www to 203.0.113.10

AAAA

Points a name to an IPv6 address

www to 2001:db8::10

CNAME

Points a name to another name

shop to shops.myshopify.com

MX

Says which server receives your email

mail.yourdomain.co.uk, priority 0

TXT

Holds text, often for verification, SPF or DKIM

v=spf1 +a +mx ~all

Take care with MX records. Changing them moves where your email is delivered. If you use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for email, follow their instructions exactly.

If your domain uses someone else's nameservers, you need to manage DNS with that provider instead. Changes normally appear within an hour, depending on the record's TTL.
