How do I install a purchased SSL certificate?

If you buy an SSL certificate from us for a domain on our hosting, we can install it for you. Just open a ticket.

To install it yourself, follow these steps.

1. Generate a CSR

  1. In cPanel, go to Security > SSL/TLS.
  2. Under Certificate Signing Requests (CSR), click Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate signing requests.
  3. Choose Generate a new 2,048-bit key and fill in the domain and your organisation details.
  4. Click Generate and copy the CSR text, including the BEGIN and END lines.

The matching private key is saved in your account automatically. Never share it with anyone.

2. Activate the certificate

  1. In the client area, go to Services > My Services and click your SSL certificate.
  2. Click Configure Now and paste in your CSR.
  3. Choose a validation method: email, DNS record or file upload. Complete the step the certificate authority asks for.

3. Install the certificate

  1. Once issued, you will receive the certificate by email or in the client area.
  2. In cPanel, go to Security > SSL/TLS > Manage SSL sites.
  3. Choose your domain, paste the certificate into the Certificate (CRT) box and click Autofill by Certificate.
  4. Click Install Certificate.

Paid certificates do not renew automatically. We will remind you before expiry, and you will need to repeat these steps.
